The Cardo Systems Packtalk Edgephones

I was looking for a great way to communicate in our SxS, mainly with my son who has to wear a helmet.  This created some challenges as some intercom systems had wired headsets, others had dongles and cords, even hard wiring.  Then I came accross an ad for the Cardo Systems Edgephones, this wireless headset had me interested.  I picked up a set to try out and right away was impressed with the simplicity and options.  Headset for me, helmet mount for the boy and no wiring, this was checking all of the boxes.  However the big question, how did they sound and work.  The system uses it’s own mesh, DMC - Dynamic Mesh Communication, and overall it works really well.  While it does work best line of sight, it works pretty well in the woods and trails.  Now there were times when a large hill or earth would get in between units and block communication, but the mesh was repair on it’s own an reconnect.

Any parent knows that when you get multiple kids in the car the biggest arguments stem around food, are we there yet and of course music.  Well I keep snackes well stocked, the kids like to ride so that left what music do we play?  This is probably the best part about the Cardo system, each Packtalk unit can pair to a phone so each person can select their own music.  This was music to my ears, literally ha ha!   I had some good old 90’s rock, and kids have whatver they think is cool today.  While the music plays the system is voice activated so I can casually talk and everyone in our group can hear and we can all have an active conversation.  If you want to sing, no problem as you cvan mute your microphone.  Want to just talk to one other person, easy, the app let’s you create a private chat if you will so you can talk with who you pick.   Battery life was also great, easily lasting all day and likely a weekend.  USB C charging, which seriosuly everything needs to be USB C, makes topping the battery off easy.

This has been a great solution for us and we think you’d like it as well.
