Our Honda Talon Build!

The Honda Talon has been an amazing trail machine for us, we have nearly 2,000 miles and it has been reliable, capable and most importantly fun. We have hit trails all over central and northern Minnesota, in the winter, summer and fall. So far the Talon has been a great upgrade from the Pioneer. While the Pioneer was a great machine, the Talon is definitely the better trail machine. If you are comparing the Honda Pioneer to the Honda Talon, this post might be great for you.
Out of the box, or maybe off the trailer, the machine is very capable and ready to ride. But one of the best parts is adding all of the cool accessories, gear and options to make the machine even better. We will have an upcoming article on top UTV accessories, make sure to subscribe and check back in, that will cover all UTVs, not just the Honda here. Upgrading the Honda was really easy, the Honda Factory Accessories were great options for many things. Plus if you purchase them at the same time as your Talon, the 1 year factory warranty covers all of the accessories too.
Crazy to think this was the stock machine right ooff the dealer floor, looks a little better now we think!
My Favorite Riding Accessory is the Cardo Systems PackTalk Edge Edgephones and Helmet Kits - We literally use these on every ride. This is always my go to must grab gear when I hit the trails, listening to music, taking phone calls, talking to my passengers or others, these are amazing. Watch our review and learn more here. Secure your machine the right way with Mac’s Tiedowns, the best in the business, we use the wheel nets and encourage everyone to use them, they are expensive but you won’t go back to ratchet straps.
Much better now!
Honda Factory Accessories:
Honda Talon Glass Windshield - A solid option for great protection up front. Easy to add other compatible items like;
Honda Talon Winshield Wiper and Washer kit - keeping that front glass clean is way easy with the push of a button. This is an easier install if you use the fusebox and switch kit, however you can also wire it direct with your own switch like I did.
Honda Fabric Upper Doors - These attach to the factory plastic doors and the integration is top notch. I keep these on hand for my “winter” doors and add them in the colder months.
Honda Fabric Rear Panel - To match the upper doors, this panel seals up the rear keeping the cab more comfortable.
Honda Aluminum Doors Front and Doors Rear - These are my “summer” doors, not only to they keep the can open and cooler, they are also cooler looking as they made a great platform to wrap them with channel branding.
Honda Fender Flares - These should really be onf of your first add-ons, for real I couldn’t believe the difference these made with keeping mud off of the doors and passengers
The Aftermarket Comes in Strong:
Bosman Designs Winch Bumper - This thing is a beast, solid winch mount, plus I added a ton of lights.
Diode Dynamics LED Rock Lights - These are bright lights, not only are they mounted as rock lights, but with an amber lens they also serve as my turn lights, easy to install and durable.
Diode Dynamics SS5 Pro LED Pods - My main workhorse bumper lights, when I need to see, these don’t let me down.
Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro LED Pods - I use an amber set of these mounted on the a-pillar. Great for visibility in in-climate weather or as a warning light.
Diode Dynamics SSc2 LED Pods - These serve as my chase lights in amber, and have a lower set for reverse. I much prefer these to whips I used to have, easier to see me and less to snag and break.
Use Code GTLED for FREE SHIPPING from Diode Dynamics.
Seizmik Mirrors - The Photon Side Mirrors and the Halo LED Rearview mirror make visibility much better. Plus these have a lifetime warrant and the LEDs are great for a no wiring dome light.
Tusk Wing Vent Kit - I was skeptical but now impressed, they add air flow when you want, block it for the cold or rain and were easy to install.
Trail Star Audio Dual Battery Kit - This was an easy one stop shop to get the battery, mount and isolator.
SWITCH-Pros SP9100 Power System - Still my favorite power and switch solution, solid state, no fuses and a streamline way to switch and power everything, Flash and strobe options made the turn signals and warning lights easy.
10-80 Dirt Sports - These guys make a lot of cool stuff for a variety of machines, I used their Pre Filter kit to help save the air filter gunk and the Packout rack for the trunk to mount tool boxes, coolers or any other Packout gear easy.
HALO Electronic Sway Bar - This was expensive, but being able to “remove the sway bar” with the click of a switch is pretty cool.
The Tires and Wheels are from System3 and BFGoodrich, both have been great. However due to your machine size and preference, it probably is best to seek out your local dealer.
